Very authentic .. Highly competent and professional

On Friday evening we decided at short notice as part of our vacation to visit the restaurant, unfortunately without prior notice. However, the young restaurant manager immediately tried not to turn us away and briefly rescheduled in the restaurant and found a place for us 4 people. Very well furnished, no overloaded menu, exquisite arrangement of the dishes ordered. The short waiting time was shortened with bread, lard and a glass of mild honey brandy, which was freely available. The service was very courteous and tried hard to please the guests. The price-performance ratio fits! Thank you very much for the nice evening!

Absolutely amazing. Very friendly, great food. But the ambience is awesome. Absolutely stylish. Due to Covid19, however, reservations should be made. Statement by the Tschätze company: Anyone who goes on a short trip to Thuringia, a stay with the golden braid is a must.

Delicious! We finally managed to land in the golden braid. Due to the delicious half-board at the golf resort, we were only booked with breakfast this time and enjoyed the visit. We were there on two evenings and on the first evening there was a trout that was a bit more than tanned on the skin and unfortunately my salad was also forgotten. But everyone gets a second chance the next evening and lo and behold, the head chef herself comes from the kitchen with an apology and a brief constructive criticism was thus eliminated. The food was super delicious, this time roulade and I confess the last one that was so delicious I only ate at my grandma's. So big praise for dealing with criticism and an absolutely successful evening. We'll be back for sure.

As always, the food was excellent, the service with great dedication to the cause. We received very good advice, the recommended wine and the vegetarian dish kept the promise. We will definitely be back.

Slow-food cuisine in the Weimarer Land - the way is worth it. We visited the restaurant in Blankenhain due to the positive reviews in the current Slow Food Guide Germany. The tip turned out to be a culinary hit and was worth the 15-minute journey from Weimar. The building, over 475 years old, has been completely renovated. The historic facade has been completely preserved and the restaurant surprises with a stylish individual interior. The walls are covered with weathered wooden planks. Benches and seating are reminiscent of a noble bistro. We were warmly welcomed by Sandra. She offered us perfect, friendly service throughout the evening. The starter is typical of the golden braid: fresh homemade sourdough bread is served with homemade greaves and a Williams honey schnapps. This evening we chose pork carpacchio with wild herb salad and Soljanka with lemon as starters: The carpacchio tasted aromatic fine and the salad was crispy and spicy. The Soljanka with sour cream and lemon tasted strong and was of perfect consistency: more stew than soup and correspondingly filling. The portion sizes are also typical Thuringian in this restaurant. However, that was no reason to forego the main course: the Sauerbraten from pasture beef with apple red cabbage and Thuringian potato dumplings was a culinary revelation! Delicately braised premium beef, a strong sauce, delicately spicy red cabbage and the best Thuringian dumplings that we have ever tried. The dumplings were of perfect strength and a delight with the reduced gravy. So far, my grandmother's (Rheinische) Sauerbraten was the measure of all things - but the kitchen in the golden braid shook my childhood memories - a Sauerbraten couldn't taste better! My wife ended the excellent dinner with a potato dumpling donut with plum jam, vanilla ice cream and a plum brandy. I chose the caramel variant flavored with sea salt from the in-house "Bobby Jones" manufactory ice cream range. It was served with a small waffle on a wooden board. The highlight was the fixation of the ice cream spoon with a magnet in the tray! Visiting the restaurant was a culinary experience that will be remembered forever. How good that the Slow Food Guide is also available for Germany.

We were there twice and always very satisfied. The manager, Franzi?, Does a great job and makes you feel at home. So thank you and the whole team for nice hours. We will be back!

Very nice, lovingly designed inn in Blankenhain. Food is above average. Good mix of tradition and zeitgeist. Likewise the drinks. Staff is extremely friendly. You feel really comfortable and welcome. Prices are reasonable and not overpriced. Highly recommended, if you are traveling in the Weimarer country.
